How long of a flight from Houston, Texas to Edinburgh, Scotland

How long of a flight from Houston, Texas to Edinburgh, Scotland?
I'll be taking a two week trip to Edinburgh this summer (I'm so EXCITED!!) and I don't know how long of a flight I should expect. I live in Austin but will most likely be flying from Houston. I'm assuming somewhere around 14 hours. Also: What in the world do I do for the flight?

Looks like the shortest your flight could be is about 12 and a half hours. Most transatlantic flights are overnight so you'll have dinner, movie and sleep! I usually take puzzle/crossword books with me. Bring a pillow and a sleep mask if you want to sleep comfortably. Ear plugs help too as last time I had a brat who talked all the way across the ocean sitting behind me. I'm going to Edinburgh in September and I can't wait either!

The flight from Houston to London Heathrow takes around 9 hrs 10 minutes and the flight from Heathrow to Edinburgh takes around an hour, so if you add in transfer times in Heathrow 12 -13 hours total. On the flight, you can watch films, read a book, listen to music, eat, or sleep. You need to take earplugs, the noise from the engines can be irritating on a long flight. Here's a link to advice on surviving a long haul flight http://www.wisegeek.com/what-can-i-do-to-make-a-long-plane-flight-bearable.htm. Have a good trip.
