Pills, tablets, etc. are not an issue. For liquid medications, bring your prescription record or a letter from your doctor, make sure they are 3 oz or less (if the container is larger separate a qty less than 3 oz) and put it in a clear one quart plastic bag along with your 3 oz-or-less creams or liquid toiletries.

You should have all medication in it's origional bottle with pharmacy lable. Keep all meds together (I carry mine in a large clear zip top bag). Liquid meds do not have to follow the 3.4oz or less rule and can be taken in larger quantites on the plane in the US (I'm not sure what the rules are for the UK). When you get to the security check point, declare any liquid meds you have to the screeners. You will need to remove the liquid meds from your bag and place them in a bin to go through the xray machine (this is where having them all together in one plastic bag comes in handy) for inspection.
