can someone please help me find a cheap flight.. Nov 3rd - Nov 9th / OR Nov 4th - Nov 9th Thanks a lot. I prefer a non stop but if i get 1 stop its fine, dont care about the time or airplane. LOL HATERS ITS NOT FOR ME >

Okay. I am currently searching Orbitz.com for one adult. You can catch a non-stop flight on November 4 to 9th with Continental for $776 with taxes. You can get one stop in Phoenix with US Airways for $526 with taxes. The same prices are on the 3rd as well. With Southwest Airlines from Houston-Hobby, on the 3rd, you can get a non-stop for $682.80. Thats the cheapest it gets. Good luck. -Keagan

The airline schedules build in ground time on both ends, but the time from one gate to the other is about two and a half hours.

why don't the airlines offer direct flight from Houston, TX to Hong Kong
why don't the airlines offer direct flight from Houston, TX to Hong Kong?
I wish that Continental Airlines could offer direct nonstop service from Houston to Hong Kong..but they don't Why no airlines offer that service? Are Hong Kongers allergic to Texas?

Just to be honest do you really think that would be an extremly popular flight?... Plus with the whole gas prices issue the airlines probably don't want to waste money making a flight where they lose money...

I wouldn't say they are allergic to Texas, but airlines do a TON of research to see what would customers like to fly. They also look at other statistics to try and determine if a route will be successful before they start flying it. I would say that there isn't a huge demand from HOU to Hong Kong. Another thing they look at is the "downline" customers. That's how many customers originate in HOU, connect, and then end up in Hong Kong. I would be willing to say hardly any as HOU is their biggest hub.

Beside the supply and demand reasons others have given. Flight from Houston to Hong Kong would be 19 hours long. That is near the distant limit of a long distant flight. Beside how many people are willing take such a long flight.

Not many Texans live in HK, or vice versa, so no tourism traffic. The business traffic would be limited too, certainly not enough to fill a Boeing 777 (the only aircraft Continental have capable of flying that distance). Continental however do fly once a day between Houston and Tokyo, where you can catch an onward flight to HK, or you can fly from Houston to either Los Angeles or San Francisco which do have flights to Hong Kong.

Apparently there is not enough demand by people for an airline such as Cathay Pacific or Continental to offer that route. There are a lot of Asians in Houston but I guess the airlines do not see a market yet. Maybe with the introduction of the Boeing 787 and Airbus 350, you will see more point-to-point flying instead of having to connect somewhere such as in California or Tokyo.
