If you are staying on the same airline, you will not have to pass through security again; also if you are changing airlines, there's a very good chance you won't have to pass through security again. The route you will take depends on the landing and departure gates but there are several ways at Houston to get from one gate to the next without having to clear security; just make sure you don't go past any of the "leaving secure area" signs!
2 :
I'm going to assume that you are flying on Continental airlines. If that's the case, then no, you won't have to pass through security. You will be arriving in the same terminal since it's domestic. That's probably going to be terminal A for IAH. Anyways, even if you had to switch to a new terminal in Houston, you still would not need to pass through the security checkpoint again.
3 :
No. You will only go through security in Fort Lauderdale. Have a great trip!

Are my flight times correct

Are my flight times correct?
I fly from Merida, Mexico (MID) to Houston, Texas (IAH), then from Houston, Texas (IAH) to Jacksonville, Florida (JAX). The times are: (MID) to (IAH)-Depart Merida at 9:00AM, arrive in Houston at 11:12. Total flight time 2hr 12min. (IAH) to (JAX)-Depart Houston at 1:45PM arrive in Jacksonville at 4:43PM. Total flight time 1hr 58min. The flight from Houston to Jacksonville doesn't add up does it? Maybe the extra hour is for customs and all that stuff since I'm flying from Merida, Mexico to Houston, Texas? Maybe there is a time change?
Aircraft - 4 Answers

1 :
Yes, you change time zones. Passenger schedules are given in local times.
2 :
All times on your ticket, departure and destination are local times. There is a joke about someone flying from Alabama to Texas who asked the clerk what time the flight took off. The answer 1 PM. He asked what time does it land. The answer 1 PM. He said I changed my mind. I'm not going. Is it all right if I stick around and watch that sucker take off.
3 :
Jacksonville is in a time zone that's one hour ahead of Houston, while Merida and Houston are in the same time zone. If your flight takes off at 1:45 and lasts for 2 hours, it will land at JAX at 4:45 but it will be 3:45 at IAH. Back in the 1980s I worked at the travel agency. One day we were writing tickets (they were still using paper tickets back then) for a guy going on one of those 7 stops in 5 days business trips. One leg of the trip had him going from Chicago to Grand Rapids or Kalamazoo, I forgot which, but the flight was really short, less than an hour, so on his itinerary it looked as if he would arrive before he actually took off.
4 :
It's a difference in time zones. Houston is Central time while Jacksonville is an hour ahead in Eastern time.

Will we have enough time for a quick tour of London? We have a 5 hour layover in Heathrow Airport

Will we have enough time for a quick tour of London? We have a 5 hour layover in Heathrow Airport. ?
I understand security is a nightmare. Our flight from Barcelona lands at 0900 hrs, and our connecting flight to Houston leaves at 1405. What nearby sights would be worth leaving the airport for a couple of hours?
London - 6 Answers

1 :
I think you would be pushed for time. If you take the Heathrow Express to Paddington, and from there the Underground to Westminster, then you'll be able to see Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, Trafalgar Square, and you might just squeeze in the London Eye. I wouldn't try the Tower of London on this short visit as it is a bit out of the centre and takes a long time to see properly.
2 :
No. The London airport is about an hour at least, depending on your mode of transport and traffic, to the city. I would suggest just staying in the airport and doing some duty free shopping. I had a 5 hour stopover there last year, and we went to Virgin records, bought a dvd, and watched it on our laptop.
3 :
Hi, There are a couple of things you need to find out before considering leaving the airport to sight-see. The first is whether your baggage is going to be transferred by the airline or whether you will need to collect it at baggage claim and then check in again for your next flight to IAH. If your baggage is going to be automatically transferred this will save you some time. Once you are off the plane you will need to go through immigration which isn't a big deal if you have an EU passport. Lines can be long at Heathrow but they do move. If you don't have an EU passport the process will take longer. So assuming the best case scenario ie, your flight lands on time, you do not have to collect luggage and you have an EU passport you could expect to get through the airport in about 30-40 minutes. If not allow about 1 hour. Once you get out of the airport you could either hop on the Heathrow Express which will get you to Paddington station in central London in about 20 minutes. From here you can jump in a taxi over to sites such as The Houses of Parliament or Westminster Abbey, or wherever else you care to see. The alternative and probably more relaxed option is to take a 15-20 minute taxi ride from Heathrow Airport over to Windsor Castle which is very close by and a wonderful place to visit http://www.visitbritain.us/Attraction/Windsor/Castle-or-Fort/135949/Windsor-Castle.htm Do also take into account when planning your time that although the plane departs at 1405 usually you have to be at the gate 45mins-1hour prior to departure. You will also need to leave a substantial amount of time to get through security at Heathrow. Personally I would make sure I got back to the airport no later than 12-12.30pm. I hope this is of help and that you have a wonderful time.
4 :
personally I wouldn't risk coming into London with such a short amount of time available ... if you get stuck anywhere you could easily end up missing your onward flight the previous suggestion to take a cab over to see Windsor Castle is much more sensible ... I can't think of anywhere else within easy reach of Heathrow that would be worth your while
5 :
For international flights you need to check in 2 hours before so you'd only really have 3 hours, that not going to be enough time to get anywhere let alone see anything. The international lounge has some nice places to eat and shop so your really best off staying there.
6 :
I wouldn't chance it! Even as a "local" I would be scared of missing the flight. US flights are a 110% nightmare for checking in. If you are travelling Business Class check in is just a bore. If you are in cattle class you could end up with a nervous breakdown. The security and slowness will drive you mad! You genuinely need to be in the queue 2 hours before! When you get back thank Mr Bush for the inconvenience he has wished on everyone! That and the US Immigration "Service" we meet when we arrive in the US is why we don't bother to come to the US anymore! Have a nice day in the UK, Heathrow is the pits!

Continental Airlines- Houston Airport help

Continental Airlines- Houston Airport help!?
I have a connection flight in Houston (IAH), and I dont know how I connect between terminal C - Terminal B. I am 14 and I don't know what to do. I looked up a map because my mom told me to make sure there is no terminal change, and there is, then I found something called a TerminalLink on Continentals website, but how do I get to the stupid Link?

Hey Nick..I have just the answer..there are agents at every gate who can direct you exactly where to go... it's likely not very difficult at all, I haven't been to IAH, but they are all pretty much the same... they may even have a golf cart available for you to be taken right to your gate... The Agents are there to help you out, and you shouldn't have any problem.. Have a great trip. Peace
2 :
When you land in Houston, follow the signs to terminal B. If you have trouble then ask someone who works at the airport to steer you in the right direction. It's not hard at all.
3 :
aaww honey it must be scary to fly alone. Don't worry. There are plenty of airport employees who will be more than happy to help you. Usually, there will be passangers on your same flight who will also have a connecting flight, you can either follow them or your best choice will be to ask an employee. Good luck!
4 :
Like the other people said ask airline employees they'll point you in the right direction. Houston airport is a little confusing. Also, I'm curious as to how your able to fly on Continental airlines without using the UM program..your not old enough I had to use the UM program actually I'm 15 I've been flying alone since 6 and I never fly on any airline alone unless I'm using the UM program. Tell your parents they only have to pay $100 to have you accompanied so you won't have to worry about this. I looked on the site it is mandatory for you to fly using the program
5 :
Not to worry, at all! IAH is quite friendly. Plus even if you do not fly UM, the people on the electric carts will be happy to direct you to the right gate. The link is a train very easy to use. http://www.fly2houston.com/iahMaps
6 :
All the Terminalink entrances have a blue beacon (flashing light, like on a cop car.)

Can I recharge my laptop on a Boeing 777 Plane?
I will be on a 13 hour flight from Houston to Tokyo. When my battery starts running low can I recharge it on the plane? I am flying on Continental. I finally got someone at Continental who knew. They said only certain seats have the plugs. I guess I need to change my seat. I think they said rows 17 through 23. I am setting at rown 34.

I'm not sure if continental has adapters. your best bet will be to call them and ask. its a 777 so it should have a lot of services
2 :
I don't think so, maybe you should go and buy an extra battery for your computer.
3 :
Dude first of I know peeps at US Airways and Continetal SUCKS so good luck trying to get service you might have to pull a tooth for it hope you know dentistry! From first hand travel experince you can buy laptop ports at Bestbuy. Thats where i assume they have extended cord adapters or buy a cord from them with an airplane logo on the box. The 777 i know has ports i know alot about planes cuz of the peeps i know but it depends on what 777 they fly cuz theres diffrent ones. IE 777-232 look it up!
4 :
If you know what seat number and what the airplane model is than go to SeatGuru.com. They will indicate what seats have plugs so that you can recharge your labtop.

Does US airways and Continental serve meals on domestic

Does US airways and Continental serve meals on domestic?
My brother and I are flying from Columbus Ohio to Albuquerque New Mexico. From CMH to ABQ we will be flying US Airways via Phoenix leaving at 8 am. Return flight is Continental via Houston leaving ABQ at 615 am. The flight from Houston to Columbus is Continental Express with a Embrarer 145 regional jet. yes we are flying coach/economy class.
Air Travel - 7 Answers

USAirways no Continental, yes on longer flights, so you may get one on the first leg/ Certainly not on the Embraer I dont know why a professional travel agent with years of experience would claim otherwise, but here is the Continental website page regarding meals. http://www.continental.com/web/en-US/content/travel/inflight/dining/domestic/default.aspx
2 :
Not sure about Continental, but US Airways serves meals on flights 3 hours or more. Drinks are served on all flights
3 :
Domestic airlines no longer serve meals for free. They ones over 4 hours will usually offer food for purchase but that is all.
4 :
The person above me is wrong. On Continental, they do serve meals for free, just on certain flights. Possible even on the embraer, but that you can check on their website. (BTW, Continental is and exellent airline) as for US Airways, I am not positie, but you can more than likely check on their website also...
5 :
On Continental mainline flights yes, not on Continental Express.
6 :
I dont know why someone is saying Continental doesnt have meals. I had one just last week on a flight from San Diego to Houston. It was a pasta dish that was actually pretty good.
7 :
Continental is the only airline that still serves meals on their flights longer than 4 or 5 hours. US Airways does not serve meals. You can purchase food from that airline.

Which would be cheaper bereavement or last minute

Which would be cheaper bereavement or last minute?
For a flight from Houston, Texas to Omaha, Nebraska for a funeral, which would be cheaper to purchase: a bereavment ticket or a last minute flight ticket?
Air Travel - 6 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
Depends on whether you are airline or not, but Bereavement Fares are usually no discount as they are based on the full fare price - usually requires a copy of the Death Certificate. Cheaper to look at discount airline sites.
2 :
It depends on the airline. Some airline (like the one I work for) give a 50% discount on the regular economy fare which is usually a higher fare, but it may happen that a seat sale fare be lower than the discounted bereavement fare, in which case it is cheaper to travel on seat sale.
3 :
funerals don't usually happen the day after someone dies, so you should have time to go online and research a good deal. As mentioned, bereavement fares are discount off the full Y fare...so probably will not be the cheapest you can find.
4 :
It depends on the airline but some airlines have gotten rid of bereavement fares. See how much tickets cost on Southwest Airlines.
5 :
there are quite a few sites that you can search that will likely give you the best prices available. check out the website BookMe and you will be able to compare prices on all the reputable travel sites in just a couple minutes. it's very convenient and will save you a bunch of time and money. Also, make sure you buy them online... otherwise they charge much higher fees for phone orders. good luck.
6 :
Often airlines offer a discount off the full/highest-priced fare, and you can get a better deal by just booking a regular fare if it is still available. Go online to a site like http://www.expedia.com and see what the fares are for the trip you need to take and which airlines get you there. Then you can call the airline(s) and ask about what the bereavement fare would be. Don't be surprised if it ends up higher than what is available for normal fares. Bereavement fares were a big deal when airfares were always extremely high when you booked last minute or didn't stay over a saturday. These days, relatively low fares are usually available any time, until they sell out. Note that it must be a close relative to qualify for a bereavement fare. Get the name of the funeral home before you call. You'll need to give them that info if you book the bereavement fare.

Will the airline transfer my bags or will I have to claim and re-check

Will the airline transfer my bags or will I have to claim and re-check?
I'm flying from Charlotte, NC to my connecting flight in Houston. From Houston I will be flying to Mexico. I need to know if I need to claim my bags in Houston or will the airline transfer them straight from Charlotte to Guadalajara? Both flights are through Continental if that matters. I just need to know if I have enough time to make my connecting flight. I have an hour between planes. Ok, I'm a little new to this so let me just ask one more thing. When I flied into the U.S. from Mexico I flied first to Atlanta and then to Charlotte and they didn't transfer my bags, I had to claim them in Atlanta and re-check. Is this because it was an international flight?
Air Travel - 7 Answers

2 :
the airline will do that for you.
3 :
Because its a connecting flight the airline will transfer them
4 :
they will transfer
5 :
They will transfer your bags through to Mexico for you. The reason you had to claim your bags when you entered the US was because US Customs and Immigration requires you to clear customs at your first point of entry into the United States. You'll also have to claim and recheck you bags if you are connecting through the US if and when you return.
6 :
no you don't have to do anything the airline do
7 :
When going out of the US, you do not have to claim your bags at the connecting flight. You will just have to claim then at your destination (Mexico). However when coming into the US, you do have to claim your bags at Atlanta because it is your first stop inside the US, you have go through immigration and then take your bags through security and then recheck them and pick them up at your destination (charlotte) I just arrived from Mexico and had to recheck my bags in Atlanta and take them through security. When i arrived in Louisville, I only picked up my bags and did not have to go back through security. Since Atlanta is your first stop in the US, they must check your bags and make sure you are bringing in anything you shouldn't.

Help! How much time should I leave between connecting flights in Houston, Texas

Help! How much time should I leave between connecting flights in Houston, Texas?
I am flying from Boston to Acapulco with a connecting flight in Houston with Continental airlines. I have never flown before and know absoloutely nothing about flying works. There are 2 flights leaving Boston the day I'm flying out, one at 5:35am and the other at 7:00am. The 5:35 flight would leave me with 2h50min connection time, and the 7:00 flight would only leave me with 1h18min. I am looking for advice as to which flight I should take. Also, how does the baggage work? Will I have to check it in both Boston and Houston? Any advice you could provide would be greatly appreciated, since I've never done this before and really have no idea of what to expect. Thanks in advance.
Air Travel - 6 Answers

1 :
I'd say one hour is just about enough since you're flying with the same airline. As for the baggage. It all depends. But it's very likely it'll be checked in all the way to your destination and you won't have to worry about it.
2 :
Minimum connection times should be listed on the airline's website, but for Houston, over an hour will be plenty. You can take either flight. If you check your bags in Boston, they will transfer them to the connecting flight for you. No need to worry about checked bags in Houston. It's really easier than you think. Just pay attention, ask questions of the airline personnel, and watch for signs in the airport. Have fun!
3 :
This airport is huge, so you want to give yourself enough time, in case you have to get clear to another part of the airport for your connecting flight. I would say 1-1 1/2 hours.
4 :
45 mins is consider "legal" in Houston-- although i wouldnt do that because its tight. 60 mins should be fine, but to be safe look for 75-90 mins. thats the ideal connect time in any airport.
5 :
Although an hour is plenty of time under usual circumstances, if there are delays in your departure from Boston, it's possible you'd miss your flight. Since you've never flown before, I'd book the earlier flight and save yourself stressing over it. Your luggage will be checked straight through. I always take a change of clothes in my carry-on luggage in case mine is misplaced. Have a good trip!
6 :
I've connected through Houston on Continental with only 30 minutes, but I don't recommend it (I had no choice). There's running, sweating, and stress, and so not worth it. There's a tram you take to get from one terminal to another, and long, long escalators. I would rather get to Houston early and enjoy a breakfast in style enroute to Acapulco.

They usually don't have direct flights from the mainland to the Carribean because it makes more sense to stop somewhere such as Miami where more people will be going and then have a connection to the Carribean destination. Around the holiday times when more people are going they will have more direct flights. The direct flights will be to the most popular destinations such as montego bay jamaica or grand cayman http://www.orbitz.com you can look at all the different dates and destinations. I wouldn't choose a destination based on the time it takes to get there though because most will take a while anyway.

What will happen if I miss my connection

What will happen if I miss my connection?
I have a flight into Houston that is suppose to arrive at 7:01. My flight departs Houston at 7:36. I realize the odds of me making the flight aren't extremely good. It happens to be Continental's last flight out of the day. Will Contintental pay for a hotel and next flight if I'm unable to make it?
Aircraft - 3 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
They will rebook you on a flight the next day - but if the early flights are full you will be on "Standby", meaning you get on the plane only if a ticketed passenger does not show up. Airlines never pay for hotel rooms, but they should be able to get you a "distressed traveler" discounted rate.
2 :
That will depend upon why you were delayed, though if they scheduled you that tight you have a good argument to be put up overnight even if it is a weather delay. Normally if you are delayed for reasons outside of the airline's control, such as weather delays or breakdowns in the civil air traffic control system, you're on your own if you miss a connection. But if the delay is because of maintenance problems or scheduling too tight to reasonably be able to make a connection they should put you up at their expense for the night. One caution though. They will usually rebook you on the fist flight out of the day and that could be as early as 5:00 AM at most major airports. Don't be late for that flight! FWIW, I've successfully made connections that tightly at both of Houston's airports. If more than just a couple of folks are scheduled for tight connections, Continental will delay the last departure of the day to avoid a bunch of pissed off travelers and overbooking of flights the next day trying to get them all out.
3 :
The TRUE story is that if you are arriving on a Continental or Continental Express flight, Continental Airlines will be aware of the tight connection and they will hold the departing flight for any arriving connecting passengers who are booked on that flight. This does not mean you can dawdle in the terminal. You'll need to go directly to the gate of the departing flight which they will give you before you deplane the first flight. If it is a long way between gates and you're worried, simply have the agent at the arriving gate contact the agent at the departure gate and say you're on your way over. It saves them guessing. If for some explained reason the flight departs and it is not your fault for missing it, then they will accommodate you on the next available flight, which might be with another airline. In extreme circumstances they will comp your hotel and meals. Don't worry, it won't come to that. Whether your bags will make the connection or not is a different story. If you can go without checking any baggage, so much the better.

How do we get it back?

Call the airline you had the standby with. Have any claim checks on hand.
2 :
Security says that can't happen. If for any reason you don't board the aircraft your baggage is unloaded. It might take awhile to get it back as security will check it VERY carefully. This used to be a ploy used by terrorists, remember PA103 and Lockerbie.
3 :
it will be waiting for you at the airline's luggage office in Jackson. This happens all the time. oh....you mean you cancelled your trip? hmm....yeah, you have to hope that they will send it back to you in SFO...if that's the case, you should go to the luggage office in SFO and tell them what happened.
4 :
That should never happen after Lockerby contact airport security they will help that is such a bad breach of security

Houston airport - concerned about connection time

Houston airport - concerned about connection time
On the flights I'm looking at, for my return home on Continental I can either fly to Cleveland, then sit at the airport for 2 and a half hours before my flight home OR I can get to the airport 2 and a half hours later than the 1st option, fly into Houston and my connection time is only 40 minues. What would you select? I'm worried that 40 minutes isn't enough time to make my connecting flight in Houston. I went to the airport's website and Continental is in four different terminals.
Air Travel - 4 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
Houston is Continental's hub airport and a pretty slick operation. Sure it's big but 40 minutes is adequate for a domestic transfer. They even have electric taxis to get you from one set of gates to another.
2 :
Honestly, it might seem weird, but I'd choose the 2 and a half hours. 40 minutes isn't very long and if your connection flight is in another terminal it takes time to get there. IAH is huge. If your departing flight is delayed even for a few minutes, that cuts into your connection time. The 'sit' time you mention in Cleveland probably won't really be that long, and sitting and waiting for a flight is better than being all bent out of shape about being late and running like a bat out of... you know where... to get to another terminal for another flight.
3 :
yeah, 40 minutes is fine; even if your gate is in the farthest terminal, they are all connected. But if the total time is the same....hmm....maybe you want to do Cleveland (way smaller airport than IAH).
4 :
40 minutes is short Here are some things to think before you select one 1-the plane that you are come in one is it big (737,DC-9,757) or is it small (CRJ,SF3,ERJ) 2- the plane that you are connecting to is it big or small (usually bigger planes park at terminals with other bigger planes and smaller ones do the small with other smaller ones) 3-are there other flights after your first incase there is a delay where you miss your flight 4-by the insurance (if you do get delayed and miss you flight the airline will have to find another way to get you home or put u in a hotel. Hope all this helped.

Where can I buy cheaper flight tickets for Army members, Flying from Germany to Houston

Where can I buy cheaper flight tickets for Army members, Flying from Germany to Houston?
Do they (USA military) get special discounts? anybody knows how and where, please let me know. Thank you.

1. Check the latest Stars And Stripes for airfare ads. The German travel consolidators often have very good offers--even in peak season (summer). 2. Run your itinerary through http://www.bookingbuddy.com and check all of those sources, especially Mobissimo, Kayak, and AllCheapFares. 3. This airport offers military pricing online, regardless of where you're travelling from/to/via (you don't have to use that airport to check military pricing, in other words). http://www.norfolkairport.com/
2 :
I highly recommend American Airlines, they give a great military discount, but you have to call their reservation line. Do not book online, you will not get a discount this way. You will need to show your military ID when you check in at the ticket counter.

Super cheap flight to Dallas

Super cheap flight to Dallas?
I need a website that has super cheap flights from Houston to Dallas, preferably under $250. Thank you so much!

With the right amount of planning, any travel website (or southwest.com) can do that for you right now -- the cheapest published fares for the routes between the Houston airports (Hobby and Bush Intercontinental) and the Dallas airports (DFW and Love Field) are right around $100 plus tax round trip (or less than $150 per person after tax). These lower fares have advance purchase requirements of 21 days, though, so the chances are good that you're looking to buy a ticket with considerably less notice than that, given your requirement for a ticket less than $250. Though you don't specifically mention when you're flying, I'd guess that you're trying to buy a ticket fairly soon -- in fact, you might be trying to fly sometime later this week (or this weekend), given your request parameters. Given that limitation, I'm not sure that any website could guarantee you a ticket that low -- the published fares on that route indicate that tickets are considerably more expensive when purchased within 7 days of the departure date ($274 plus tax on American or United), and no website is likely to be able to circumvent the advance purchase requirements on other cheaper fares. The best shot you'd have of buying a last-minute ticket between those airports for less than $250 would be to put in a bid through Priceline or Hotwire -- even then, there is no guarantee the bid will be accepted. Again, though, this answer assumes that you are trying to buy a last-minute ticket -- if you're not trying to fly within the next couple of weeks, though, you might wish to add to your question the specific dates of your trip to see if someone can help you further. The fares on this route are quite low with advance planning, so there may be other factors at play if you're trying to book in advance.

I'm sure getting a flight under $250 to Dallas is not going to be hard at all. I am looking at an America Airlines flight from IAH to DFW, and the total with taxes for one adult is $142 round-trip. You can try: Cheapoair.com Expedia.com Hotwire.com Orbitz.com Have a great trip!

I went to Planetickets.com (http://www.planetickets.com) this morning and saw american airline (www.aa.com) doing a sale to Dallas. Also check out Southwest airlines (www.southwest.com).

Southwest flies out of Intercontinental anymore or does it? I KNOW Continental does but they won't take my Southwest FF miles. Thanks BC nut , but when I say Non stop I mean no changing of planes. I wouldn't mind having to stop in another city w/o having to get off the plane.

Southwest Airlines will probably have the cheapest fares out of Birmingham to Houston or Austin. Also Southwest does not charge any fee for checked bags. This can have a big effect on your total price at other airlines.

Southwest offers service from Birmingham to both Austin & Houston. I did a quick check on prices for a 2 week advance purchase and flying into Austin was cheaper.

houston is a HUB for CO so you wont have to make a connection, try cheaptickets and try to book with in 3 to 4 weeks of travel on a WED night!!

I don't think you're going to find anything much cheaper that time of the year. The only cheaper option might be to fly to Spain and travel overland and by boat from there. Just keep checking, but don't wait too long, the price might go up.

try this travel website to see what they have available. I've had good luck finding cheap flights from them in the past: www.everydaytravelconnections.com Hope this helps!

$1250 is good, you'd be hard pressed to find anything cheaper smack in the middle of summer. I would recommend booking asap to avoid even higher prices. Check out dohop.com before you do - great flight search with good prices on international flights. Just to be sure you've checked everything :)

One thing to remember is everyone has a different idea on what is "cheap".....and many of those well-known "major" travel sites are owned by the same company, which means normally not much differences in their prices. And the problem with just checking those sites only, is you might miss out on great deals that may be available on another travel site! You have to think of these online travel sites like grocery stores - they all sell the same thing, the only difference is their price. SO - Why pay more for the same thing the other guys are selling??? I suggest trying this online travel site to see if they any deals available: www.everydaytravelconnections.com Hope this helps!

how early should i arrive for an international flight from lax?
My flight is on Sunday at 6:30am and I don't want to miss my flight. It stops in HOUSTON BUSH INTL then to Madrid. I don't know if i should leave 2 or 3 hours earlier.

I think 2 hrs would be good enough. There usually isnt a lot of people at 4:30 am on sunday mornings.
2 :
1 1/2 to 2 hours should be fine if it were later in the day maybe a little earlier but 6:30 is pretty much when nobody is flying.
3 :
The recommended for international flight is 3 hours. Have a good trip.
4 :
Airlines state 2 hours prior for international flights.
5 :
Technically your flight to Houston is a domestic flight, only from Houston to Madrid is your flight considered an international flight. Most airlines do ask you to arrive at least two hours before a domestic flight. For a flight that leaves at 6:30 AM you could probably arrive a little later than two hours before the flight without a problem. Even LAX won't be crowded at 4:30 AM, better early than late though.
6 :
you should arrive 2 hours beforehand to allow for check-in, customs, security etc and any "hold-ups" if the occur!

Well, you could inform the flight attendant and perhaps the gentleman could be gently nudged. But other than that, I don't think you could or even should do much about it. Just slap on a pair of earphones and block everything else out.
2 :
No! that's why you can use the headphones and listen to music or movie... tune it out! they have a right to sleep, probably doesn´t even know they snore poor things. I snore, i wake myself up, and i'm a woman!!! so use the headphones sweetie...
3 :
The person has the right to sleep. Why don't you just listen to some music, or watch the movie? You would not like for some one to wake you up from your nap. And No the pilot nor the flight attendants should not wake the person up.
4 :
Headphones would have helped. The sleeping person had a right to take a nap, and folks can't control when they snore - my husband travels constantly for his job, and even though you were on a short flight, the snorer may have been on the last leg of a very long trip.
5 :
Wow, guess you should add no infants, or obnoxious children or the person sitting next to you that wants to share their whole life story... You pay for a flight with more than one person, what you really need to do is learn some coping skills. If you don't want to hear someone snore bring some headphones and get over yourself!

well you can get to the border all the way to Monterrey, and then try the cheap airlines like INTERJET, VIVA AEROBUS, VOLARIS, ALMA, to Guadalajara that have cheap tickets, if that still expensive for you probably there is a bus from Houston to Guadalajara or take the bus from Nuevo Laredo to Guadalajara. http://www.interjet.com.mx/
2 :
If you're driving, the best and safest way I always go is as follows: Take I-10 to San Antonio Take I-35 to Laredo and cross the border. Take the toll road from this point forward wherever you can, most of the way is tolled and you'll get there in no time. Look at the Map of Mexico and follow the cities below. Keep going south to Monterrey and pass by it. Keep going south to Saltillo and pass by it. Keep going south to Matehuala and go through it. Keep going south to San Luis Potosi and pass by it. Keep going south to Queretaro and pass through it. Keep going south to Morelia. When you get to the outskirts of Morelia take the toll road to Guadalajara. From Laredo to Morelia it took us about 8-9 hours when we went in May. I believe its another 4 to Guadalajara. Good luck
3 :
Hey! you don't need to go to Morelia to go to GDL from Houston. There is a page from mexican government to check the best routes in México, but you need to speak spanish: http://aplicaciones4.sct.gob.mx/sibuac_internet/ControllerUI?action=cmdEscogeRuta You will cross the border and begin the mexican route in Tamaulipas state, either in Nuevo Laredo (Laredo, Tx) or in Matamoros (Brownsville, Tx). You will go to Jalisco state, to Guadalajara city. Good Luck!

Will my luggage arrive on time after a transfer

Will my luggage arrive on time after a transfer?
I'm going from New York (LGA) to Cabo San Lucas via Houston on Continental (both flights). My biggest concern is my luggage. Will it make it on time between the LGA-Houston flight to the Houston-Cabo flight? When we booked it, we had a layoff of 2 hours. Then expedia changed it to only 33 minutes. On my itinerary, it says the first flight arrives usually 90% on time which is making me more worried because I want to make sure my luggage is on the 2nd flight in time. Help. I've checked the offical site and the layoff is changed from departing at 10am to 10:12am, which is now 42 minutes. I mean we can make it to the other gate but it's the luggage I'm worried about.
Air Travel - 4 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
Expedia does not change the flight timings. It is the airline. I suggest you call Continental and make sure that the connecting time is enough even for you to change from one aircraft to the next. You can request changing one of the flights if possible because the connection is not appropriate. Theoritically, you should not pay anything more because Continental should have made sure that no cases like yours are left unresolved when they changed flight schedules.
2 :
You should be fine. Tell the gate attendant you have a "fast connection" and they'll tag the luggage. It's possible the luggage won't make the flight and you might have a day, so I'd recommend packing one day's worth of clothes in a smaller carry-on bag just to be safe.
3 :
Call the airline--- I believe this is an "illegal connection" meaning it is below the industry standard of time required for a connection. I believe that is a minimum of 45 minutes. With the schedule change (which was done by the airline and not by Expedia) you should be able to switch one of your flights, so that you either arrive in Houston earlier or leave for Cabo later, giving you and your bags a much better chance of getting to Cabo without problems.
4 :
You may well not make a 33-minute connection yourself, and it's all but certain your luggage won't make it. Either travel with carry-on only or plan on making arrangements to get your luggage to you after you arrive.

They have a number of airlines that you can fly for cheap throughout europe, Ryan Air, EasyJet, Etc you can get flights with them for like $20 to fly from london to paris, as long as you dont have too much luggage (they charge extra if you do) Another option is to take a Bus, or train, they both leave from london and are fairly cheap, I like I paid like $10 for a bus from london to paris. Anyway, all in all on the flight I saved about $1000 by flying to london instead, my flight was I thikn $400? Give it a try

Getting between Bush Intercontinental and Houston Hobby

Getting between Bush Intercontinental and Houston Hobby?
I have a connecting flight from Continental Airlines to Southwest Airlines in Houston. The flights are two hours apart. I booked it that way to save about $400 on Continental's air fare. My question is how bad is traffic at 3:30 in the afternoon to get from these two airports. I see that they are about 30 miles apart on Google Maps..
Air Travel - 3 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
Oh man, you're going to be pushing it with a two hour window! I currently live in Houston about five miles from IAH. At that time, you're going to catch a lot of traffic when you get past downtown headed south. I would highly recommend changing your Southwest flight to a later one. Another point to consider is that Hobby is under construction and the lines for security are always really long right now. Again, two hours is really tight.
2 :
Even if you're doing carry-on luggage only (and don't have to wait to claim your bags), considering that you're supposed to check in 1.5 to 2 hours before your flight, you're cutting it way too close. It can easily be an hour between the two airports.
3 :
2 hours is really pushing it. I recommend changing your flight to a later one. That is right around rush hour. Have a great trip!

Right about 3 1/2 hrs flying time (actual in the air time), not including stops, plane changes, ect.
2 :
The scheduled non-stop flight time from San Francisco will depend on your choices of airlines and airport of arrival in Houston area. Flight duration will vary from 3h 29min to 3h 58min. (San Francisco Int'l / SFO - Houston Intercontinental / IAH) - Continental Airlines has 5 to 7 daily non-stop flights with flight times of 3h 29 to 3h 58min. - United Airlines has 1 daily non-stop flight with flight time of 3h 48min. FYI - Continental and Southwest Airlines flies from Oakland Int'l airport (OAK) to both airports in Houston. (Oakland Int'l / OAK - Houston Intercontinental / IAH) - Continental Airlines has 3 daily non-stop flights with flight time varying from 3h 31min to 3h 48min. (Oakland Int'l / OAK - Houston Hobby / HOU) - Southwest Airlines has 1 daily non-stop flight with flight time of 3h 40min. The actual flight time will depend on the winds, speed of the aircraft and the actual route the aircraft flies.
3 :
3 hours and 30 minutes if you can get a direct flight. It's 1,641 statute miles. Flight time will vary depending on winds, weight and aircraft type. You can get any flight time or distance estimates between airports at: http://www.jets.com/

Have you ever seen the airport in Key West lol? Think only the puddle jumper types of planes can fly in there. Need to fly into Mijami and take a connecting flight in.
4 :
Key West has challenges to commercial aviation: 1- Size. It's runway is less than 5,000 feet long. That limits the types of aircraft which can fly out of EYW. (Remember...What goes in must come out) There is but a single jet which regularly goes in and out of there. 2. Key West (EYW) has airspace restrictions. Birds, a tethered balloon that's 14,000 feet up, noise restrictions which basically shut it down from 11p-7a. One of those places that it's very hard to get to.

Without knowing which part of Tennessee you want to fly to, it's hard to give an accurate answer. But I'd guess not much over 2 hours if you're able to get a direct flight. Pick a city, and look it up on Travelocity.com. NOTE: Continental has direct flights from Houston Intercontinental to Nashville which, if on time, last just under 2 hours. Northwest will make you switch in Memphis, American in Dallas, and Delta in Atlanta, all if which will take twice as long or more.

Do I have to fly both legs of a flight

Do I have to fly both legs of a flight?
Houston, Texas to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico on Continental is about $1025.00 round trip for two people. Austin, Texas to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico on Continental is $600.00 round trip for two people on the same date. The Austin to Cabo flight stops in Houston and then changes planes to the exact same flights as the Houston to Cabo trip. So can I purchase the Austin to Cabo trip and just use the Houston to Cabo leg? Do I really have to drive to Austin to save almost $400? This cant be right is it?
Air Travel - 4 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
If you don't fly one of the legs, the airline will consider you a no-show and canx your entire itinerary. Chances are, you will not get any refunds too. They do this to keep people from 'cheating the system' because airlines often offer discounts to certain cities like Austin.

Exactly, a "no-show" for any-one of the trip's leg, is equal to TOTAL cancellation. They won't let you on in Houston as your ticket will have been cancelled due to No Show
4 :
yep, ya gotta drive to Austin. If you show up in Houston, they will charge you the fare difference, or you don't get on the flight. It is $200 r/t Albuquerque-DFW-Pittsburgh....but if you just get on in DFW, it's $350. Go figure!`\

Connecting flights , different airlines; what about my luggage

Connecting flights , different airlines; what about my luggage?
I'm planning on travelling from Montréal, QC to Lake Charles,LA. I have a Montréal - New York ticket with Air Canada and a New York - Houston flight with Continental Airlines. Will my luggage follow between both airlines or do I have to get it back and check it in again in New York? The problem is I don't have much time in NY and I feel checking in my luggage there would make me miss my connecting flight. I know that when you're flying the same airline, it's checked to your final destination. What about for different airlines?

if you booked them separately, you might have to check out your luggage and re-check in them to the next flight. i flew from singapore to kuala lumpur, via malaysia airlines, and then KL to manila via KLM, but didn't check out my luggage when i got in KL. i called northwest airlines, and they arranged the flights for me.
2 :
did you book through the same company, or did you book one flight and then go into the other airline? If the same agent or airline, they do it when you check in and the computer shows your final destination. If you booked one and then seperately the other, I would call either or both airlines and ask them what they can offer
3 :
Ask Air Canada and then ask again at the ticket counter. If you bought the two flights together, you shouldn´t have to check the bags in twice.
4 :
I think you can ask Air Canada to check your bag all the way through because they have interline e-ticketing agreement with Continental, so they can access the same computer information. But you will still need to check in with Continental.

You should be more afraid of driving. It's far more likely to kill you than flying. That said, the airline and the plane make a huge difference in how unpleasant the experience is, especially on a long flight like that. Get a flight on the newest, biggest plane you can. I doubt there are many intercontinental flights on anything less than a 777 these days. My best flights have been Continental, JAL, and Asiana. The worst: United. Oh yeah, and if you can't find a decent airline that goes all the way from Houston to your destination directly, it may be worth it to get a connecting flight. If you can just get the longest leg on a comfortable plane, you still get rid of most of the pain. Ideally, you'll be able to sleep on the plane, so nothing will really matter much except leg room. (That matters more if you're sleeping, as I found out the hard waywhen I got off my last trans-pacific flight this month...KAL. My ankle is still not recovered.)

To Asia you have great airlines. China Airlines(Taiwan) or Continental from Houston. And connecting in Los Angeles, Singapore Airlines, Japan Airlines, Asiana(Korea), Eva Air(Taiwan) and All Nippon Airways. Asiana and Korean Air have showed interest in flying into Houston. Try to avoid any chinese airlines.

When you go really matters. Once you decide on dates search websites like www.kayak.com, www.airgorilla.com, www.travelocity.com and Yahoo Travel Also check the airline websites as they sometimes have sale fares that don't appear on the travel sites. If you are not really locked in to going to Amsterdam, look at flying to nearby airports like Brussels (BRU). You may be able to save about $200 that way.
2 :
Try gettin a ticket to England first then another ticket to amsterdam. Might come out alot cheaper. When gettin to England, theres lots of options for travel to Dam. Train from London (Eurostar.com) Ferry from Hull Flight

How much would a charter flight cost from Houston, to St. John USVI

How much would a charter flight cost from Houston, to St. John USVI?
Just a ballpark estimation. All these charter flight websites want contact info to be submitted and they'll get back to me. Since I'm not making the arrangements nor paying for any of it, I need not be wasting their time. This is for a trip my wife's company is taking it's sales team on as a reward for a successful year in 2010. There are no commercial flights that are non-stop and most have travel times of about 10 hours. We could get to Hawaii faster than that! Just curious what an approximate price would be to charter a plane from any of the airports in Houston to St. Thomas U.S. Virgin Islands for 13 people.

I found this from a earlier post. It should give you an idea. The cost of chartering a private jet is calculated by multiplying the flight time by the hourly rate, plus expenses. The flight time is calculated using one of several flight-planning programs designed to calculate estimated flight times. The flight times are calculated taking into account aircraft speed, typical winds and anticipated routing by air traffic control and are estimated to the nearest 1/10th of an hour. The hourly rate is dependant on the aircraft class. The estimated flight time from New York to Nassau is 2 hours and 54 minutes, or 2.9 hours, and the return flight is estimated at 2 hours and 48 minutes or 2.8 hours. The total round-trip flight time is 5.7 hours. This is the number of hours the rate will be multiplied by to get our cost. Aircraft hourly rates are dependant on aircraft size. There are three common size classes, based on cabin dimensions: light or small jets, mid-size or medium jets, and heavy or full-size jets. For a more information on aircraft cabin sizes and performance, please visit this jet charter fleet gallery. Light jets typically cost around $2,500 per flight hour, mid-size jets cost around $3,200 per flight hour and heavy jets cost on average $4,500 per hour and up. Back to the Bahamas. If we multiply our flight estimate of 5.7 hours by the hourly rate of a mid-size jet of $3,200 per hour, our base flight charges come to $18,240. In addition to flight charges, the charterer is responsible for all charges incurred during the trip, including over-night charges, landing fees, International fees, catering and flight-phone usage. Flying a plane is expensive so it’s typical for the plane to wait while the passengers go some place. On our trip to The Bahamas, the plane will be staying overnight for three nights, from Thursday through Saturday night. The costs associated with parking the plane and covering expenses of the flight crew are borne by the charterer. These costs are typically charged at a flat rate of $600 per night. These charges add $1,800 to the cost of our charter. Running and maintaining an airport is an expensive proposition. One of the ways airports collect revenue is by charging a fee to every plane that uses the airport. These charges are appropriately called landing fees. Our flight to the Bahamas will land twice, once in the Bahamas and again in New York on the return flight. Landing fees generally run $150 per landing for a mid-size jet so this will add $300 to the cost of the charter. The Bahamas is outside of the United States. Flying internationally requires permits, and permits mean paperwork. Permits must be obtained from Customs and Immigrations in the Bahamas granting permission for the plane, crew, and passengers to land and enter the country, as well as from United States Customs and Immigrations for the return. The cost of having these documents prepared for a charter is passed on to the charterer. International fees for the Bahamas will add approximately $1,500 to the cost of the charter. Standard catering on a private jet includes full beverage service and light snacks. Passengers often want to enhance their flying experience by ordering a special meal service or a special beverage service and the cost of service is passed along to the charterer. Sandwiches and beer will add around $100. Champagne and Caviar could add as much as $1,000. Additionally, the aircraft is equipped with a flight-phone. Usage is billed at cost when incurred. So let’s recap: Flight Charges $18,240 Overnight fees $1,800 Landing fees $300 International fees $1,500 Catering/Phone $300 Total Cost $22,140 This is the total cost for the plane. A mid-size jet can generally seat 8 passengers so the cost would be the same if we had one passenger or eight.
