What can I do to make my 6 month old Comfortable on our flight

What can I do to make my 6 month old Comfortable on our flight?
My husband and I are flying to Los Angles this Saturday with our 6 month old son he's never been on a plane before, I have flew plenty of times but never with a child, luckly we have a non stop flight leaveing from Houston to LA but on our way home we have to stop in Denver, anyone have any good ideas or anything at all? (ear popping)

1 :
make sure you have a bottle or a pacifier to keep him quiet. I have no problem complaining to the flight staff about a crying baby. and I came very close to getting the aircraft to land and having the baby removed for being disuptive.
2 :
Perhaps in the future, you might think about taking the train or driving. It would be a better environment for everyone - you, the baby and the other passengers. Plus, all that recycled air in the cabin isn't healthy for anyone, especially a wee one. If you're not headed out to see family with the new baby, is it possible for the him to stay home with a grandparent or aunt/uncle? It's often tough travelling with toddlers because of the pressurization problem and ears, but with a 6 month old, it's impossible to communicate with them to pop their ears or to chew gum. Have the baby suck on a bottle or pacifier until the plane is no longer changing altitude and at take off/landing. Perhaps talk to your pediatrician about the issue. Best of luck in whatever you decide.
3 :
From personal experience with myself, my kid brother, and the children of friends ... (1) Something to suck on such as a passifier. (2) Talk to your pediatrician about a medication to knock your child out. Having a positive, if sleepy, first plane experience will make a huge difference in future plane travel. Ear popping and the very loud engine noises are all sources of potential trauma. Being sleepily drowsy through the entire experience averts that trauma. (And makes the passengers around you happy, too.)
4 :
I'm a former Flight Attendant and I fly a lot with my children. First of all, does he have a seat on the plane? This is by far the safest way to fly. If you are bringing the car seat, do NOT check it as luggage. They get broken and lost by the airlines all the time. Ask nicely at check-in if the flight is full and if not, if you can get an empty seat if he is a "lap" baby. Babies are more comfortable in their own, familiar seat than perched in parents' laps, the safety argument aside. Most all car seats sold in the U.S are FAA approved for flying (the only one I know of which wasn't is no longer being produced). Check for the sticker; http://www.faa.gov/passengers/fly_children/crs/ Take the seat to the gate regardless and have it gate-checked if you are unsuccessful getting the extra place. This is better than luggage checking it, although no guarantee. If you do manage to get your car seat on board, please keep him safely strapped in for take-off and landing. It's a myth that children are supposed to suck on something during those times. Children actually rarely have ear problems on flights (can only recall one time in 13 years of flying). I have never done this in all the flights I've taken with my own children and we have never had any ear problems. I would recommend delaying solids until after your trip. I started two of mine at 7 1/2 months and they did great with good weight gain and are not fussy eaters. Baby food is messy, bulky and unnecessary at this tender young age. Milk is all your baby needs for now so take advantage! The secret to easy flying with a baby is to have a good baby carrier. At 6 months, your child is too big (or almost) for fiddly front packs like the Bjorn. A good quality carrier goes to age 2 or 3. If you don't already have a wrap, ring sling, Mei Tai or other front/back carrier, look into the subject. They're magic for calming babies on flights and there are certain times that you just need your hands free when you travel. Just some odd tips; -Bring enough diapers! Too many parents run out. He will need more than he normally does and sometimes you'll change him simply because you can now and wont get another chance for awhile (like before boarding). -Wrap diapers in plastic bags, straight from the package (so that they're flat) and bind with rubber bands to make less bulk in your diaper bag. -If he can stand with support, learn to change him in that position. You'll love this tip anytime you're out in public. The changes on the airplane are tiny! -Use a backpack or backpack-style diaper bag. Get a larger one if necessary. -Mom, lose the purse and use a "bum" bag or small one around your neck. -Use a bungee cord to double secure your stroller before giving it over at the aircraft. -Use bottles with disposable liners and premeasure the powder if your child is formula fed. Much easier than compartmentalized containers or individual packages. The sinks on airplanes are not good for bottle washing. -Make sure your baby takes his bottle at room temperature. No health-advantage to warming so skip this cumbersome task. -Online check-in is a parent's friend. Use it if available! For more information, ten years ago I wrote an article on this subject. It's based on both my personal and professional experience of flying with children. It's totally non-commercial and other parents from around the world have contributed; http://flyingwithchildren1.blogspot.com Have a good trip!

At least 1 hour. I usually get there 1 & 1/2 hours just in case.
2 :
You need to be there an hour ahead of time.
3 :
Since it is probably an international flight, you'll want to get there at least a few hours ahead of time. Whenever I travel, I get to the airport really early because it gives you plenty of time to get checked-in and go through security. Sometimes, there are really long lines and stuff can happen that can delay you, so err on the side of too much time, vice not enough.
4 :
Regulations say 1 1/2 to 2 hours, maybe you oughtta go with that.
5 :
If you are flying Internationally I would suggest 2 hours, an hour to an hour and a half if it's a National flight. Give yourself plenty of driving time too.
6 :
I usually drop my husband off about an hour before his flight. He's never missed a flight so that should be enough time.
7 :
If you are checking baggage and have a few people in your group, just plan for no more than a couple hours ahead of time. And if you flight is a Monday or a weekend, security can be a nightmare. Plan for 2 hours before so you can take care of parking, checked baggage, security, finding your gate, etc. Better to know you have the time than to be rushing and flustered because you are running late. Now if you just have a carry on, then you can get away with an hour or so early. But being middle of the morning, I would plan for a couple.
8 :
You didn't say whether you were flying domestically or internationally. I usually arrive at the airport offsite parking 2 hours before my flight, no matter where I fly. This way you don't have to deal with the throngs of t-shirt and raggedy shorts-clad tourists in flip flops wanting to go to Paris for that last week of summer vacation.
9 :
In addition to what everyone has already said, I just wanted to point out that the time you need sometimes depends on which terminal you'll be flying out of. For instance, most big Continental flights fly out of terminal C, so it's a very busy terminal. Check in lines and security lines tend to be longer. If I'm flying out of Terminal C, I like to have about an hour and 15 minutes for domestic flights (not including parking time). But, terminal B, for example, is usually less busy. I'll usually only get there 45 minutes to 1 hour before my flight out of that terminal because I know the lines are usually shorter.
10 :
1 1/2 Hours for a Domestic Flight 2 1/2 Hours for a International Flight
11 :
I hope you made that flight.

Where can I get an affordable flight for an unaccompanied minor from Houston, Texas to Lawrence, Kansas

Where can I get an affordable flight for an unaccompanied minor from Houston, Texas to Lawrence, Kansas?
I want her to get there on exactly June 14th. Thanks in advance. She's 13, btw.
Air Travel - 3 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
First you need to get the people of Lawrence to build an airport. Then you need for an airline to begin flying there. I doubt that will happen by June 14th If the minor is old enough to change planes you can get flights on American for 118 to KC Southwest has a few seats for 112 from Hobby airport but they are almost sold out
2 :
It depends on the age of the minor. However, it will not be possible to fly into Lawrence. I recommend that you fly the child from Houston to Kansas City and pick the child up there. This can be done on American Airlines on several different schedules for $157.71 plus an unaccompanied minor charge of $100, depending on the age of the child. The only way to get a child flown into Lawrence Airport itself is a charter from Houston, which is probably not "affordable." Regards, Dan
3 :
Southwest sky says there are flights for 114. I found them on kayak.com too I guess the TOP CONTRIBUTOR is too busy answering questions to check the fares.

Can I change my flight time on Continental

Can I change my flight time on Continental?
My flight isn't till October and I want to change the connecting flight time in Houston to the next flight out. My current connection is only 53 minutes layover and I want to change to the next flight (an hour later) to give me more time for changing planes (I have to change terminals). Can I do this or am I stuck having to run to make my connection? Is there a fee for it? Also, I already changed my seats (travel agent got me seats in the back of the plane). If I keep changing stuff will they think I'm a terrorist? This is my 1st time to fly. The entire flight is on Continental They are advance purchase tickets-non refundable. This travel agent didn't help me at all- knowing I had never bought plane tickets so I didn't know the connect time wasn't good till after I bought the tickets.
Air Travel - 3 Answers

1 :
If you bought the cheapest price tickets, they usually charge you a fee if you change any portion. Hopefully your departing flight will not be delayed so you have time to make your layover. If you can, try to find out where your connecting gate is located by asking the flight attendant. Sometimes they announce gates if you are connecting to another city. Maybe the connecting gate isn't too far away. Hopefully your airplane is small so that it will not take you too long to get off the plane.
2 :
Continental charges $100 for the change... plus any additional fare if the new flight is currently more expensive than when you origianally booked it. It's like rebooking the ticket. The new price prevails.. plus $100.
3 :
you can do anything if it is booked you cannot change. but if there is an accommodation they will do this for you

I booked a trip with orbitz about a month and a half ago so I have some experience with this. It did seem to take awhile for the money to come out of my account, but then again I did it on a Friday so it wasn't until the following Tuesday or Wednesday the funds came out of my account. They take it out in seperate increments - one for each activity (for instance, the airline, there and back, the hotel, any transportation, and any activities.) Hope it helps!

Delta Flight from Dubai to Houston

Delta Flight from Dubai to Houston?
This is the first time that I will travel on Delta so I was wondering if anyone has ever traveled on Delta Airlines from Dubai to Houston? If so how was it? Thanks in advance!
Air Travel - 3 Answers

1 :
your flight is not non-stop on Delta to Houston, rather, it will make a connection somewhere enroute, and most likely will be with one of the partnered airlines of SkyTeam...of which Delta Airlines is a member.
2 :
it is a one-stopper via Atlanta. "change of gauge" from 777 down to...I think MD80? or maybe 737
3 :
Delta does not have a non stop to Dubai. You would have to make a connection in Atlanta (Delta's hub) and catch a flight from there. You would start the flight in Houston with either an MD88 or a CRJ 900. Then in Atlanta you would transfer to a 777. However if you are looking for a non stop flight, Emirates flies non stop on 777. Very nice airline, amazing service, and great food.

I found that sometimes you get the best way is to call airlines direct. Sometimes the internet is cheaper, sometimes the phone operators are cheaper, sometimes travel agents are cheaper. Check out all three to make sure you get the best deal. There are a few other simple suggestions you should follow too: -- Choose the same airline for all legs of your itinerary whenever possible so you can take advantage of all connecting and round-trip airfares. -- Try to fly on the least popular days: Tuesday, Wednesday or Saturday. -- Remember that Saturday night stays are usually required for most bargain airfares. -- Try to select the least popular flight times: mid-morning or late evening. -- Check with discount airlines for cheaper fares. -- Try to book as far in advance as possible. Generally try to purchase your tickets at least 21 days in advance of departure. Many airlines also have specials requiring three-, seven- or 14-day advance purchase. -- In general, the cheapest airfares are available in the spring and summer. -- If you travel around the holidays, book your departure and return flights a day or more before and after peak travel dates. If you're flexible, you might benefit by waiting until the last minute to book your flight because major carriers often run special sales. These sales, however, often have a long list of rules, restrictions and blackout dates. --Consider booking tickets that come with restrictions because they also come with a cheaper price tag. -- Consider using alternate airports near your desired airport. The extra drive can save you hundreds of dollars. --Be as flexible as possible with your dates. If I can be of more assistance, feel free to contact me. Good luck and I hope you have a wonderful trip!

How long is a Flight from Monterey CA, to Houston Texas

How long is a Flight from Monterey CA, to Houston Texas?
Does any one know around how many hours the flight would be? also would it be best to rent a car for the weekend or take taxies? I'm horrible with Direction..Im going for work
Houston - 6 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
You could probably find out the flight time by checking on expedia.. it would probably include the transfer time too. As for renting or taxis, I've heard the public transportation in Houston is very good, so I would consider taking taxis, unless you are planning on venturing out of the city.
2 :
It depends on what airline you choose. For instance, if you choose Frontier or United, you'll have a layover in Denver, whereas if you choose Southwest or American you'll have a layover in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. If you are lucky enough to find a nonstop flight from Monterey to Houston, your travel time will probably be less.
3 :
You will probably have to fly from Monterey to LAX which is about 50 minutes, then LAX-Houston is about 3 hours & 20 minutes. Once here, it depends on how much running around you want to do. Mass transit is almost non-existant here, the Light Rail really only runs from the Med Center through Downtown but there are busses. Houston is over 600 square miles and it took me a couple of years to find my way around (okay, not one of my strong points!) so finding your way driving may be difficult. I would recommend that you take taxis if you will only be here briefly. Oh, and try to get a hotel close to where you will be working.
4 :
I just flew back from CA, it took about 3 hours or something, but I had a layover in Phoenix. Since you said you were bad with directions, I'd take a taxi if I were your.
5 :
If you were to get a direct flight from Monterey to Houston it would be approx. 3 Hrs 35 Min. You can get flight times for airports all over the world at https://www.jets.com/
6 :

Yes if you leave early in the morning it is just a short trip and you will have time to do much more. It is a non-stop trip if you go by I believe it is Continental. But Dallas is a lay-over spot for many airlines.
2 :
Yes I would imagine it's possible. I live in Boston and very often travel to Washington DC on a morning flight and return that same afternoon/evening. (Between 6-8 times a month for business) It's about an hour and a half flight each way. So as far as timing, it's definitely possible. I would imagine that Houston and Dallas are no further distance than that.
3 :
Yes very possible. In fact I would imagine lots of people do this pretty often.
4 :
Use Southwest Airlines. They'll do it for you. It's cheap and spartan; but you'll have the most choices.

what happens if I skip the final leg of a one-way flight and stay in the city where the first leg stops

what happens if I skip the final leg of a one-way flight and stay in the city where the first leg stops?
I want to fly from LAX to Dallas, tickets are $40 cheaper if I ticket to Houston. The flight stops in Dallas. What happens if I don't take the second leg and get off in Dallas? I will not check any luggage.
Air Travel - 4 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
If you miss the second flight, you are SOL. Why would you do that, Houston is hours from the Ugly Dallas
2 :
You'll simply be shown as a no-show for the 2nd sector. If it's only a one way ticket you shouldn't have any problems, although if you go for a return, your problems start the minute you miss the flight to Dallas, as the rest of the trip will be cancelled.
3 :
If you, as explained here you buy a OW (one-way) the most that can happen is that the airline charges you the difference to your credit card. BUT, if you buy an R/T (return ticket), the moment you miss one leg the whole itinerary is cancelled! And considered forfeited.
4 :
Assuming the plane stops at the gate to allow passengers off and on (not just for fuel), and you have all your carry-on items, nothing will happen. Just make sure that Dallas is the stop on the one-way flight and you'll be fine.

google "Hooks airport", one of the country's largest private airports located in north Houston.
2 :
All I can tell you is to stay away from a flight school called "ATP." This abreviation stands for airline transport professionals. I have spoke to many airpline pilots, because I work for an airline, and the academy has the 'pilot factory' image. The academys' theme is to accelerate training to get you qualified for a job faster. .In the academys' eyes, it's just to lock you in and get your money faster. By locking you in, I mean there is a CONTRACT involved. Look up "AOPA" online and search for "finding the right flight school." In some of the articles, the AOPA verifies and confirms these types of flight schools are operated without the student in mind, only your wallet. The academy makes a pathetic attempt to certify a pilot and if that pilot does get their license, its a good as a G.E.D. Its terrible, piss poor training. So if you want quality training, they are NOT the way to go.

You used to get credit for that trip too! Easy way to get your Frequent Flyer up. Ellington had free parlking, so people who lived south of Houston could park free, check their luggage without a wait and get through security in a small airport, then they got ff credit. It was awesome!!! And, it takes so long to get in and out of IAH that the extra hour was made up by hopping right in your car!

There were flights between the NYC airports. Which are maybe 10 of 15 miles apart. But, I guess if you had a connection from another airport, it could be worth it. I don't know what the cost would have been though. The other service that came to mind has just been discontinued (for obvious reasons.) The flight was a 10 minute hop between LNK and OMA which are about a 45 mile drive apart. That drive is all Interstate 80 going 80 mph! The entire flight was from Denver, CO to McCook, NE to Kearney,NE to Grand Island, NE to Lincoln,NE to Omaha, NE to Kansas City, MO.

How about a 747 from oakland to san francisco 8 air miles.. Uniteds maintaice base is in oakland and they actually flew passengers from the two cities, and then the plane flew on to tokyo or somewhere in asia.. It was a way to reposition aircraft when they came in from long flight for serviceing,,, the total flyt time was 10 minutes,,.

To where in Europe can you get a direct flight on American Airlines out of Houston

To where in Europe can you get a direct flight on American Airlines out of Houston?
I know that dfw is the AA hub. But I live in Houston and I wanted to get a direct flight to paris but no luck. Anyone know what my options are?

houston is continental hub you will have to change in DFW if yu want american
2 :
Air France flies non-stop from Houston to Paris, otherwise AA can get you to Paris with a connection in any number of cities. If you want to fly AA, try going to their website and enter Houston as your departure city and Paris as your destination, you'll find what options are available on the website.
3 :
if you have to fly AA....you will have to go to DFW or Chicago Continental and AF fly nonstop IAH-CDG or go Lufthansa thru Frankfurt!
4 :
As the previous poster said, you'd have to fly Continental if you wanted a direct to the City of Lights. I believe AA has 2 flights per day from DFW going to Paris. ORD (Chicago), JFK (New York) and possibly MIA (Miami) are other gateways for AA to get your across the Atlantic. Bon chance, and bon voyage!
5 :
paris but if i were you, don't limit yourself and search for layovers to other countries too. you can get great deals. there are quite a few sites that you can search that will likely give you the best prices available. check out the website BookMe and you will be able to compare prices on all the reputable travel sites in just a couple minutes. it's very convenient and will save you a bunch of time and money. Also, make sure you buy them online... otherwise they charge much higher fees for phone orders. good luck.

No aa,only continental and air france does.

No news has been reported of a plane crash, so you should be fine.

Well, a direct flight is only about 3 1/2 hours, but if they took a flight with stopovers it could take much longer. You shouldn't worry too much, you would have heard if there was something wrong with the flight. Also check http://www.mccarran.com/ for flight information at Las Vegas McCarran Airport.

A direct flight from Houston to Las Vegas is approx. 3 Hrs 24 Min.

When traveling from USA to Europe via Canada, will I clear Canadian customs before boarding European flight

When traveling from USA to Europe via Canada, will I clear Canadian customs before boarding European flight?
First leg of flight is Houston to Toronto with change of planes in Toronto
Air Travel - 4 Answers

1 :
That depends on your destination and if you will change airplanes in Toronto. Pearson does have an international terminal, allowing you visa free transfer through Canada for most, but not all connections. Don't count on not showing your passport, though. Canadian immigration very often insists on seeing the passport of EVERY passenger as they depart in Toronto. I wouldn't lose any sleep over this, if you have a normal passport you will be just fine. Enjoy your trip.
2 :
Probably not. Usually if you are only connecting and not leaving the airport you wont have to clear canadian customs. If you have a long layover you will have to.
3 :
Not unless you choose to leave the terminal , to smoke or something.
4 :
You will have to clear customs when connecting at Toronto Pearson (YYZ) from a flight from the US, to an international flight. http://www.gtaa.com/en/travellers/connecting/connection_tips/ shows that for a US Flight to an International Flight, you will be screened by the CBSA.

I know that for stays of under 90 days in Costa Rica I do not need a visa but what about connecting flights i n Houston? Also I have a very short connection time are there any tips anyone has on how to minimise delays and make connecting flights in Houston?

What's your nationality? I dont think brits need visas to enter the US... Regardless, if u are just connecting flights, u should not require a visa... I'd rrcommend calling the US embassy, though... Things might have changed in light of the recent threats... Safe travels!
2 :
If you have an UK passport you will have to get an ESTA, with that the USA checks your name against their lists. You should get a stamp in your passport without problems, but everybody entering onto USA airspace and certainly when you touch down on the ground, has to be cleared by the system. Link to the site to apply: http://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/travel/id_visa/esta/ It is free, if there is a site that charges, do not use that. To minimize delays, fill out all forms completely, follow all directions. Make sure you get out of the plane efficiently and walk fast, so you are ahead of the queue, but if you have not filled out your forms, or misbehave in the eyes of the security staff at the immigration lines, you will have to go to the back of the long queue. Instead of a hotel address you can mention transfer flight, I think you will have to add details like flight number, so have a copy of your paperwork handy in the plane, to fill out the form before you land.

Since there are a lot of Chinese in Houston, find an Asian travel agency. They buy tickets in bulk and can sell them to you at a reasonable price. That is how I booked by travel tickets to Malaysia. Check kayak.com....this will give you a good idea what the cost will be. You are talking about International travel, to LONDON! I don't know that such a thing as cheap, let alone free even exists. Unless you have a friend or know someone who works for the airlines...then you might be able to get a deal.
2 :
FREE?? um...no free rides anymore...not even the employees get to ride for free...taxes or minimal fees still apply to them as well. Marry an airline employee and there you have your free (or cheap) flight.

I recommend checking with the US Department of State for a definitive answer. That said, the gate area of most international airports is "international territory". As long as you STAY in the international gate area, you technically never enter the US.
3 :
I dont think you need a visa becaous you are not entring in united state. you are just changing the planes or waiting in the lounge. you can call your air carrier and confirm with them.
4 :
You need a C-1 visa, which allows direct and continuous travel through the United States. The "Transit Without Visa" classification was abolished after 9/11. The other posters are incorrect.
5 :
yes you do and it can take a long time to get an interview at the US embassy JUST to get a visa. what Stan said is right.

depends on where in Mexico
2 :
If you are going to the Yucatan Peninsula, yes, but if you are going to pretty much anywhere else, maybe or no. For example, Mexico City... you'll spend a little time over the Gulf because it is the most direct route to Houston. Mazatlan... no. Check a map to see what I mean. Most flights to Mexico from here are point to point (although AeroMexico uses the hub and spoke method).
3 :
Depends where in Mexico you are going. If you are going to Can Cun you do go over the Gulf.
4 :
a lot of airlines fly along the coast of texas before they get over mexico

Depends on where you are going to visit. You can either go over Gulf, Caribbean or Pacific.

Hello, The airlines are run by smart people. I'm sure they've dispatched another aircraft to accommodate your flight. You'll want to check your flight status via the airline's website to make sure. In most cases during re-routes airlines have backup aircraft able to take over another's flight line in the event that it gets messed up. It's just all part of airline operations. Happy flying!

Dutch wings flight school Houston

Dutch wings flight school Houston?
if you have taken lessons with this school, would you recommend it to me? specially their package from0 to commercial how many actual hours of instruction you get with it?? tell me your experience with this school... thank you
Aircraft - 2 Answers

1 :
I have never heard of it but it does look legitimate. Arcola is a nice airport or Houston Southwest as it is called now. No matter what school you decide to take your lessons do not, I repeat do not lay down a large sum of money hoping to go from zero time to commercial pilot. What if they go out of business before you complete your training? It has happened to many pilots in the past at different schools around the US. Pay as you go one hour at a time and then after you get a private license and you want to buy a block of 5-10 hours for a discount you will have a better feeling about how stable the company is. You really aren't going to save that much money buying a package deal for your training. If you are a slow learner you will be charged more in a package deal and if you are a fast learner you will give the school your money and they benefit.
2 :
Let me repeat what Ozzie said because it is so important: DO NOT pay in full up front for the entire cost of any flight training program at ANY school. The personal financial risk you take is not worth the slightly lower rate. Silver State Helicopters is a dramatic example of what can happen to students that pay in full up front. Look them up and read some of the stories about them. Some 2500 students had taken out $70K loans and paid it all to the school, and when the school went bankrupt they had no way to get their money back or complete their training. The school you picked looks fine, but even the slightest chance that something could happen and cost you tens of thousands of dollars is not worth it. It could even be the case that your own circumstances change and you do not wish to continue, or you need to move to a different school. No matter what, you don't want them holding onto all of your money. Pay as you go. I also recommend searching on pilot forums. They will be much more likely to have members that have personal experience with any given flight school. http://www.pprune.org/ http://www.jetcareers.com/ http://airlinepilotcentral.com/ Good luck!

Is it wise to stay awake the night before a 15 hour flight

I'm leaving on the 22nd flying to Hong Kong. I'm flying from Gulfport, MS to Houston, TX at 6:00am...at 10:45 I leave Houston to Tokyo which is a 15 hour flight. Then another 4 hour flight to Hong Kong. I would LOVE to sleep most of the flight from Houston to Tokyo. I'm planning on taking a 1mg xanax..They usually knock me out when I'm at home but not so much on a plane. I'm just too edgy on flights. Would it be wise to stay up the night before?

I think you shoud get enough sleep as much as possible... If you missed one sleep you are may not may not able to replace it by sleep longer hours or taking a nap in the day time. So why tourture yourself... Just sleep whenever you feel like it and get plenty of rest.
2 :
you can- it would make you a lot more tired during the flights. But just watch out afterwards your immune system is taken care of so you don't wareout your body after the flight.
3 :
Why not..you may want to check out some clubs to enjoy yourself but be cool on your alchohol...
4 :
I would stay up, just so I would sleep on the planes.
5 :
I always stay up the night before I take a long flight. It makes it a lot easier to sleep on the plane. I also recommend stretching between naps. Go to the area near the toilets. The flight attendants have jump seats there that are usually folded up. It's a good area for stretching. You don't want to be stiff when you get off the flight. I didn't stretch the first time I flew on a 15 hour flight and my legs were stiff for days. It's also a good idea to try to spend the week before you leave adjusting to the time you will be on when you go overseas. You are less likely to have jet lag that way.
6 :
i dont know just make sure you get enough sleep to make you look like you are sane enough to fly or they will not let you fly

I saw your $129 southwest flight. That total would be $150.00 even. That is actually a pretty cheap flight. Airtran also has a $129 flight for Friday June 27 at 5:50am, if you wanted to leave earlier. The total price for that would be $150 also. I don't think you will be able to find cheaper unless you get lucky since it's so close to that date, and that is a holiday weekend. http://tickets.airtran.com/Select.aspx

that flight should take about 1hr 50min so either they were literally flying 1,000 miles per hour instead of the standard 500 miles per hour OR the news people screwed up. my money is on the news people screwing up since the media can never get things completely accurate. just like as soon as the news came of the shooting it was reported that 20 people were shot and then a few days later all the sudden it was 19 people total were shot.

It depends on what time of year you're flying, along with days of the week, times, etc.. But, a minimum of $1500 is pretty accurate. You should do a search of all the travel sites to find the lowest fare. There isn't one web site that will always give you the lowest fares everywhere.
4 :
I have always found the best deals on expedia.com. Cheaptickets.com offers good deals sometimes, but I find that expedia is overall a great travel agency. Check out the link source, it is to the deals for the trip you asked about. This obviously depends on the date you want to travel. Hope it helps. This is pretty expensive, but I'm sure it is because of the dates I put in. You might find a better deal on the dates you plan on traveling. Good luck. 5 :
It depends on when you want to fly. It is cheaper during our late spring/summer/early fall. The Qantas website (www.qantas.com) has good deals. Right now I think there is an $899 special from LA (but that does not include taxes). Your best bet might be to book a flight from California to Australia, and then book your flight from Houston to California separately, rather than trying to book directly from Houston. It would be good to price it both ways for the dates you are looking. Also, Qantas has a deal where you can get an air pass, which means you get the fare to Australia, as well as a few flights within the country for around $1100 from LA (plus tax). In addition to expedia.com and orbitz.com, you should try kayak.com, and also check the airlines directly. Good luck!

Probably 6 to 7 hours
2 :
Should be about an 8 hour flight. I think there is a 7 hour difference from Houston to London. When you leave at 4:30pm, it will already be 11:30pm of the same day in London. You arrive at 7:40 am on the NEXT day (not the same day), so that means, in London time, you fly from 11:30 pm to 7:40 am = about 8 hours. I could be off an hour in the time zone difference, which might make it a 9 hour trip. Get lots of sleep on the plane and stay as hydrated as you can (but no alcohol or caffeine) to help you deal with the jet lag. Hope you have a great time in London!

9 hours

Houston is 6 hours behind us. Let's say 7:40 is 7:30. 4:30pm to 7:30am is 15 hours. Minus the 6 hours time difference. The flight should be 9 hours.

There is no weight limit... it depends completely on what type of aircraft it is... If its a large airplane, the weight limit will be high, if it is a small airplane, the limit will be low... In rare cases, the weight can be limited by runway capacity, but that is rare becaue the airplane would not be able to take off if it cannot land, when it would be lighter...

What exactly do you mean by weight limit? The planes can hold alot of weight. You can bring as much luggage as you'd like, but will have to pay for it. You are only allowed 2 checked bags & each cannot be over 50 lbs. If you do go over 50 lbs or have an extra bag you will be charged, but it will be allowed.

Flying with daughter from Mumbai to Newark. I plan to drop my daughter at Newark then take a connecting flight?
Flying with daughter from Mumbai to Newark. I plan to drop my daughter at Newark then take a connecting flight to Houston which is after 3 hours of arrival at Newark. I have some relatives coming ot Newark airport. How do I meet them after completing immigration? Will it require coming out of airport completely? And I will have to travel to catch the connecting flight to Houston?

Yes you will have to leave and go back through the screening process, also thanks to that idiot that walked into a secure area in Newark not to long ago and the underwear bomber it is going to longer to go through this process you wont have much time to spend with them, your better off staying there for a night and have a good time with your family then take your flight the next day.

If you're arriving internationally into the US, there are stringent security checks in place at the airport now. You'll have to wait in the aircraft for approximately an hour for them to check the airplane thoroughly before you can alight. If you wanna meet your relatives, then you'd have to clear immigration. I'd suggest to opt for a longer connecting time or stopover if u wanna meet your relatives.

are there any cheap flights from houston to pittsburgh

are there any cheap flights from houston to pittsburgh?
usually flights in this category cost around 300 or less, but now its 400 for the cheapest for a dec 18 - jan 2 flight. Why is it so costly now, and would I be better off waiting a bit to buy a ticket or just take the 400 one now. I've done this similar flight before for a 100 dollars less so I'm confused why it's so expensive NOW. just to add, the thing is i have flown this same time for about 4 yrs...with nowhere near the same fares. thats why i'm so confused. but i guess i'll just watch and wait.

The reason why you're seeing the prices increase for your specific dates is because you're trying to fly during the busiest travel period of the year (the Christmas and New Years' period). You will, in all likelihood, not be better off waiting to purchase your ticket -- airlines realize that this is an extremely high-demand period and have little incentive to reduce prices. Your best options right now are either to buy the ticket you want or see whether moving your travel dates a little will help. (I'd venture that the date that is causing your price to go high is the January 2 return date -- a Sunday immediately following a holiday is usually very busy and more expensive. Moving that date to the 3rd, for example, might result in a lower fare.)

One site may be slightly lower than another but the supply and demand economic rule applies to all financial transactions…..make your purchase on reliability and common sense……what will work for you…….and……..your travel requirements…..always use trusted and ethical travel sites…….yahoo travel…….orbitz……travelocity……expidea or club type membership….AAA or AARP. Take a moment to make sure a cheap ticket is worthwhile and reliable……..I can’t recommend any one site…….its up to you to search and decide what is right for you. If you see what appears to be a good deal … grab it…don’t worry if the price goes up our down a little bit next week……

Just as Nako mentioned, you are selecting travel dates around Christmas time. After the first week of December, ticket prices tend to steadily rise and get especially expensive the few days surrounding Christmas. Ailines know that passengers want to be home for the holidays and are willing to spend more money during that time. I suggest you buy now before the ticket prices go up. Another option is to see if Southwest has anything.

Is 2 hours enough time to catch a connecting flight from Toronto ON to Houston and then to New Orleans

Is 2 hours enough time to catch a connecting flight from Toronto ON to Houston and then to New Orleans?
Thinking about a flight with the following timeline. Departing Toronto Canada, arriving in Houston Tx on an Air Canada flight. 2 hours later leaving for New Orleans on a Continental flight. There is a terminal change in Houston. Is 2 hours enough time and will I need to collect my luggage and recheck it or will it go straight to the connecting flight?

You should go through US Immigration (passport control) and Customs in Toronto. If yes, Air Canada will transfer your checked luggage to Continental and all you have to do in Houston is go to the gate for the flight to New Orleans. Two hours is enough time for that - even if your flight is not exactly on time.

I doubt it very much Houston is well in land and Hurricanes lose their strength over land
2 :
Could be...people are already evacuating outlaying areas of Houston in anticipation.

My parents are Belizean :-) I haven't been there yet, but all my cousins tell me its beautiful. I don't think it will be a problem flying. The storm isn't projected to hit the coast of Texas until Wednesday. You should be fine. Happy travels.
