Will the airline transfer my bags or will I have to claim and re-check

Will the airline transfer my bags or will I have to claim and re-check?
I'm flying from Charlotte, NC to my connecting flight in Houston. From Houston I will be flying to Mexico. I need to know if I need to claim my bags in Houston or will the airline transfer them straight from Charlotte to Guadalajara? Both flights are through Continental if that matters. I just need to know if I have enough time to make my connecting flight. I have an hour between planes. Ok, I'm a little new to this so let me just ask one more thing. When I flied into the U.S. from Mexico I flied first to Atlanta and then to Charlotte and they didn't transfer my bags, I had to claim them in Atlanta and re-check. Is this because it was an international flight?

They will transfer your bags through to Mexico for you. The reason you had to claim your bags when you entered the US was because US Customs and Immigration requires you to clear customs at your first point of entry into the United States. You'll also have to claim and recheck you bags if you are connecting through the US if and when you return.

no you don't have to do anything the airline do

When going out of the US, you do not have to claim your bags at the connecting flight. You will just have to claim then at your destination (Mexico). However when coming into the US, you do have to claim your bags at Atlanta because it is your first stop inside the US, you have go through immigration and then take your bags through security and then recheck them and pick them up at your destination (charlotte) I just arrived from Mexico and had to recheck my bags in Atlanta and take them through security. When i arrived in Louisville, I only picked up my bags and did not have to go back through security. Since Atlanta is your first stop in the US, they must check your bags and make sure you are bringing in anything you shouldn't.

How close does Gustav have to get before flights are stopped at Houston Bush airport

How close does Gustav have to get before flights are stopped at Houston Bush airport?
I'm supposed to be transiting in Houston Tues eve to Weds eve, alone with young baby. Am so scared of being grounded and stuck inside in a foreign (for me) city. With maybe no hotel availability. Airline not being too helpful either. Not sure what to do!

Check with whatever airline you're flying with. Their website should tell you.

Technically it's barely even a big wall of rain, it will be over before you know it. Schedule flights accordingly, enjoy Houston now cause you may never get to see it again.

Help! How much time should I leave between connecting flights in Houston, Texas

Help! How much time should I leave between connecting flights in Houston, Texas?
I am flying from Boston to Acapulco with a connecting flight in Houston with Continental airlines. I have never flown before and know absoloutely nothing about flying works. There are 2 flights leaving Boston the day I'm flying out, one at 5:35am and the other at 7:00am. The 5:35 flight would leave me with 2h50min connection time, and the 7:00 flight would only leave me with 1h18min. I am looking for advice as to which flight I should take. Also, how does the baggage work? Will I have to check it in both Boston and Houston? Any advice you could provide would be greatly appreciated, since I've never done this before and really have no idea of what to expect. Thanks in advance.

I'd say one hour is just about enough since you're flying with the same airline. As for the baggage. It all depends. But it's very likely it'll be checked in all the way to your destination and you won't have to worry about it.
2 :
Minimum connection times should be listed on the airline's website, but for Houston, over an hour will be plenty. You can take either flight. If you check your bags in Boston, they will transfer them to the connecting flight for you. No need to worry about checked bags in Houston. It's really easier than you think. Just pay attention, ask questions of the airline personnel, and watch for signs in the airport. Have fun!
3 :
This airport is huge, so you want to give yourself enough time, in case you have to get clear to another part of the airport for your connecting flight. I would say 1-1 1/2 hours.
4 :
45 mins is consider "legal" in Houston-- although i wouldnt do that because its tight. 60 mins should be fine, but to be safe look for 75-90 mins. thats the ideal connect time in any airport.
5 :
Although an hour is plenty of time under usual circumstances, if there are delays in your departure from Boston, it's possible you'd miss your flight. Since you've never flown before, I'd book the earlier flight and save yourself stressing over it. Your luggage will be checked straight through. I always take a change of clothes in my carry-on luggage in case mine is misplaced. Have a good trip!

I've connected through Houston on Continental with only 30 minutes, but I don't recommend it (I had no choice). There's running, sweating, and stress, and so not worth it. There's a tram you take to get from one terminal to another, and long, long escalators. I would rather get to Houston early and enjoy a breakfast in style enroute to Acapulco.

3 :
Sure Continental Airlines will do it for ya for a price of course!!!
4 :
Why don't you just check with the airlines?
5 :
Maybe. Check orbitz.com
6 :
I suppose it's theoretically possible, if you have access to a concorde jet and leave at midnight of the day you want to get there.....
7 :
Of course it's possible. Many commercial flights will take you there & back. However if you have a Lear or something else, that would be much faster & more comfortable.
8 :
Which Columbus?
9 :
if you got the money , its possible !
